When I was running my first business in Massachusetts, I shared a barn with her mother and gave Willa the opportunity at a very young age to ride a variety of different horses and ponies I had in the barn for sale. That experience helped her become very adaptable to different horses and different teaching styles. She has shown the ability to adjust quickly, stay composed, and learn from each new situation.
Based on what I have seen over the years, Willa has the kind of character, work ethic, and adaptability that would serve her well in a Division I program. She is the type of athlete who can grow, contribute, and continue developing at a high level.”

“I have had the pleasure of knowing Willa Lyons her entire life, and I have been one of her riding instructors and mentors throughout her development in the sport. Although she isn’t at my barn full-time, she is dedicated to shipping her horse down to Connecticut for lessons, or meeting with me at local barns when I’m hosting clinics nearby, so she can stay consistent in her training.
Over the years, I’ve worked with Willa on a wide variety of horses and ponies. She has a good ability to adjust to different horses and pay attention to what she’s being taught. Willa listens, follows instructions, and takes coaching seriously.
In the barn and in the show ring, Willa is a team player who stays focused on the plan and works well with others. I believe she would be a strong fit for any Division I equestrian program.
